I believe with the way our world has changed due to COVID-19, a new type of media would be the digitization of our social spaces. This would mean an increase and widespread use of virtual reality for each person. With online classes or workplace meetings, despite having the ability to talk to each other it falls flat and feels less personable. The missing link is the 3D aspect and less structured aspect of social interaction. For universities offering online classes, there are no "club hours" and coworkers lose their valued chats over the watercooler. With virtual reality, the users can feel more immersed in their interactions with each other, and using these virtual realities to recreate social areas can provide more natural socialization without any possible health risks. It allows users to essentially just "hang out" like they used to without leaving the comfort of their homes.

  1. I completely agree with your thoughts (I actually posted the same thing on my blog). I think COVID-19 has exposed many flaws of online learning and virtual reality could definitely aid some of those issues. As you said, having the ability to connect with others is a large part of learning and remote classes have essentially abolished that concept.

  2. I 100% agree with you about how COVID - 19 has changed our world and i also completely agree with you regarding the flaws that you have outlined. As you mentioned above, "coworkers lose their valued chats over the water cooler", i am in full agreement with this part.

  3. It is very interesting that we thought of very similar concepts for the new type of media. As the world moves from the current pandemic, worries will still linger. This will push new waves of social hangouts by different means. I believe that Virtual reality right now is very lacking, there are missing the other senses which are touch, smell, and taste. Though we may not see it within our lifespan, I think that this is something that is definitely possible.

  4. Your opinion is both interesting and sad. I agree with the opinion, and I think the future that will unfold for us will be very lonely. If club activities disappear and communication between people disappears, it would be very difficult for an extrovert like me.

  5. I agree with your comment and ideas. Although I feel like people that have grown up with having physical interaction with others find it difficult to learn or even communicate online. Eventually, technology will be more used nationwide so the future generations will enjoy of this more efficient online interaction.
